Αν βρείτε κάποιο νεοσσό καλέστε μας άμεσα, προτού το πάρετε από το σημείο που το βρήκατε. Οι γονείς μπορεί να είναι εκεί γύρω και να το φροντίζουν. Οι πιθανότητες να επιβιώσει χωρίς αυτούς - με την ανθρώπινη φροντίδα - μειώνονται δραματικά.

The depicted Great tit (Parus major) was found as a nestling in a street in Sindos area. Unable to live on its own or be carried back to its nest, it was sent to “Action for Wildlife”, so that it could receive the appropriate care. Within a few weeks, it got all his adult feathers and flew, free again, in the forest!

Great tit nestlings, like all small birds, are particularly sensitive and need care from experienced individuals. “Action for Wildlife” undertakes, every spring and summer, hundreds of nestlings, giving them “wings” to fly into a new world!

Η αναπαραγωγή των παπιών σιγά-σιγά ολοκληρώνεται και εμφανίζονται οι πρώτοι νεοσσοί στις λίμνες και στα ρέματα. Το είδος Tadorna tadorna (Βαρβάρα) συχνά παρατηρείται να φωλιάζει μακριά από τις λίμνες και στη συνέχεια να κατεβάζει τα μικρά του μέσα από ρέματα και κανάλια που διασχίζουν τις αγροτικές περιοχές. Οι γονείς συνοδεύουν περπατώντας τα μικρά, ενώ άλλα ενήλικα 2 ή 3 ετών από προηγούμενες γενιές, εποπτεύουν την περιοχή πετώντας και προσπαθούν να αποσπάσουν την προσοχή αρπακτικών που μπορεί να επωφεληθούν από τα ευάλωτα μικρά. Πολλές φορές περισσότερες από μία οικογένειες σε συνεργασία, πραγματοποιούν αυτό το επίπονο ταξίδι για τους νεοσσούς, οι οποίοι μπορεί να χρειαστεί να διασχίσουν αρκετά χιλιόμετρα για να φτάσουν σε ασφαλή τοποθεσία.

Ας έχουμε κατά νου λοιπόν όλα αυτά και αν τυχόν συναντήσουμε μια τέτοια ομάδα το καλύτερο θα ήταν να την διευκολύνουμε φεύγοντας από την πορεία της, χωρίς να την ενοχλήσουμε. Αν πέσουν στην αντίληψη μικρά παπάκια πριν τα πάρουμε για να τα "σώσουμε" πρέπει να σιγουρευτούμε πολύ καλά πρώτα ότι δεν είναι κάπου παραδίπλα οι γονείς τους.

Στις 15 Μαΐου επανεντάξαμε στο Χορτιάτη μια μικρή χελωνίτσα που είχε έρθει σε εμάς στις 3/5. 

Της ευχόμαστε καλή τύχη ώστε να μεγαλώσει με ασφάλεια.

Θυμίζουμε την ανακοίνωση την εισαγωγής της

The Hellenic Welfare Hospital, with the assistance of Action for Wildlife and the Lake Kerkini Management Authority released today in Lake Kerkini 15 wild birds that had been hospitalized on their facilities, including 11 Storks (Ciconia ciconia), 1 Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), 2 Black Kites (Milvus migrans) and one Booted Eagle(Hierraetus pennatus).

Most of the birds had been found injured and some of them as nestlings and were all sent to the Centre for Healthcare to be taken care of.
One of the two Black Kites was found on the ground as a nestling along with its sibling, since a lumberjack mistakenly cut the tree on top of which their nest was built. The Grey heron and the Booted Eagle were brought to the facilities for treatment about a year ago, wounded by a hunting rifle. Most of the storks were nestlings, which due to their injuries did not recover in time to be released in last year’s special reintegration program. All birds were ringed before their reintegration, in cooperation with the Hellenic Bird Ringing Centre, so that their future progress may be observed.

In the release event, teachers and students from Zappio Elementary and High School of Constantinople were present, escorted by the administrative board of the ‘Child Shelter’ organisation.
